2025 Utah Prosecutorial Assistant of the Year Nomination
ELIGIBILITY:
Any Utah government-employed administrative and support staff in a prosecutor's office.
NOMINATION CRITERIA, MATERIALS, PROCEDURE and SELECTION PROCESS
Please provide a statement explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award detailing qualities such as, but not limited to:
CASE PREPARATION & SUPPORT
- Demonstrates exceptional organization and thoroughness in case research and document preparation.
- Proactively anticipates needs and deadlines.
- Attention to detail prevents wrongful procedural errors.
- Provides exceptional trial support.
- Effectively coordinates with different departments to facilitate seamless case progression.
COMMUNICATION
- Communicates clearly and professionally with attorneys, colleagues, law enforcement, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal abilities.
- Handles sensitive information with discretion and tact.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- Builds strong relationships with law enforcement, witnesses, victims and court staff.
- Demonstrates empathy and professionalism when dealing with victims and their families.
- Contributes to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK
- Takes initiative in mentoring new staff members or interns.
- Demonstrates a commitment to team success through collaboration and problem-solving.
- Assists in the training of new employees and colleagues.
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Implements new systems or procedures that improve office workflow and case management.
- Leverages technology to enhance research, documentation, or trial presentations.
SELECTION PROCESS
The UPAA Board will contact the nominee’s employer as part of the selection process.
The UPAA Board reserves the right to select multiple recipients.
If this nominee is not selected, the UPAA Board will notify the nominee they have been nominated for this award.
