Sexual Assault - DV Resource Prosecutor
The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Resource Prosecutor (SADVRP) is a specialized legal professional who
provides expertise, support, and training to prosecuting attorneys, law enforcement, and other stakeholders
involved in cases of sexual assault, domestic violence, and related crimes. Their primary goal is to ensure the
effective prosecution of such cases and to support justice for victims. The SADVRP develops and delivers
training programs for prosecutors, law enforcement, victim advocates, and allied professionals on best practices
in investigating and prosecuting sexual assault and domestic violence cases, stays updated on emerging laws,
legal strategies, and forensic tools related to sexual violence and domestic abuse, serves as a resource for
prosecutors handling complex or high-profile sexual assault and domestic violence cases, and provides advice on
evidence collection, trial strategies, victim-centered approaches, and trauma-informed practices.
SADVRP - Trent Dressen
Trent has been with the Utah Prosecution council since October 2023. UPC is
mandated to train prosecutors statewide. As the Sex Assault Domestic Violence Resource Prosecutor,
Trent also provides training to law enforcement, advocates, and support staff, primarily centered in
domestic violence and sex assault investigations. Prior to joining UPC, Trent spent 11 years as a
translator in the United States Navy, two years as a dispatcher, five years as a law enforcement
officer, including time as a SWAT sniper and Special Victims Investigator, and eight years as an
Assistant District Attorney, prosecuting everything from traffic infractions to murder. In his spare
time, Trent loves spending time with his family, trying to stay in shape, and learning new things.
